Preserving our past through architectural design.

Whether it’s an old schoolhouse, a home in the historic district or a barn somewhere in Michigan’s vast country side, preserving our past through design is an area Ekocite is proud to be a part of.

Preservation can be tricky, especially when strict historical guidelines require everything to be kept in its original place. We know what this type of precision entails. Exactness.

But, preservation and working with historical buildings isn’t always just working with very rigid requirements for restoration.

Sometimes an old building is being renovated for a new use. Ekocite has helped renovate buildings to keep elements of their original style, but with a modern touch. Seamlessly integrating the old with the new.

Working with local architecture, built by local carpenters, while preserving it for future generations, feels like an honor. Maybe because it is.

Four-Step Approach and Service Listing for Design

  • Historic Yellow Farm House

Michigan is known for its old farm houses, which are often passed down from one generation to the next.

Ekocite has had many historical project renovations like this 19th century Greek Revival farm house located in northern Oakland County.

Adding on to a mid-1800's farm house is not an easy task. There are many complexities of design and building codes to seamlessly integrate additions and updates to an older structure.

But, this is what great design can achieve. It's also what we love.
